Tom Potter, owner of The Potter Building Company, has been a carpenter/contractor for nearly 20 years.
He began his career in Taos, New Mexico. Originally from outside of Philadelphia, PA, Tom moved to Taos after graduating from The University of Pittsburgh. The mountains drew him there, but it is also where he began his career as a carpenter. He started out as a carpenter’s helper, worked hard, learned the trade, and, eventually, became a project manager. At this point he had also completed several independent projects in the Taos area as well.
In early 2006 Tom and his family moved to Mid Coast Maine. Upon their arrival Tom began his first independent project in the Midcoast area; a four bedroom family home, on the water, in South Thomaston, Maine. This spec home was fully designed and built by Tom, and sold before it was even fully complete.
It was around this time that his interest in smart home technology started to arise also. Tom has worked hard over the years to stay up to date in this niche of the construction industry in order to offer clients the latest in home automation options. This has been of the utmost importance with regard to energy efficiency, and home security given the fact that many of The Potter Building Company’s clients are part-time residents of Mid Coast, Maine and like to watch over their properties while away.
Between then and now, The Potter Building Company has worked on a wide variety of commercial and residential projects in the Mid Coast, Maine area. With Tom’s range of experience in the construction industry over the years, he is able to offer a unique skill set which translates into a way of doing business not generally offered by other contractors; whether here in the Mid Coast, or elsewhere. From his personal, on site supervision and availability, to his desire to be on the cutting edge of industry practices, coupled with his honesty and open business practices, Tom works hard to make sure all of his clients are armed with the information they need to make educated decisions about their construction projects.
